Looks Can Be Deceiving
PostedMy husband and I attended a thanksgiving party of one of my filipina acquaintances. She just got approved of her application for American Citizenship. So many guests attended inasmuch as it was a double celebration. Her daughter was also celebrating her 5th birthday. At the party, my husband mingled with some of "the husbands" while I was also busy chatting with some of "the wives" just across the table. One of the husbands asked Frazier, where was his wife at. My husband pointed at me. The conversation went like this...
Guy: Where's your wife at?
Hubby: She's there (pointing at my direction) wearing a maroon sweatshirt.
Guy: (looking at me)..is she still 19?
Hubby: (laughing) Heck no! she's already 31.
Guy: (surprised)..Really?!? i'm sorry. She looks younger than her age.
Hubby: I know. It's ok, I'm already used to it.
Really, looks can be deceiving. That was just one of the many incidents I experienced. Even at work, I encountered the same. At first, I was annoyed. But now, I am enjoying it especially the part where they found out they were wrong. It's funny looking at their faces with slightly open mouth after they discovered my real age.
